The Pilgrim.

There are tourists, travelers and there are pilgrims. They are quite different.

Tourists seek escape form the corporate world. They do not seek perminant escape- they only seek a break so they can return to the grind refreshed. Travelers are similar except that the time scale is longer. Very often travelers are engaged on a 'gap year' between university and work. The aim is to build a bank of memories so that work and middle age seem barable- and life seems worthwhile.

The third type is the pilgrim- one who seeks answers to specific questions. I am a pilgrim.

Travel is the best philosophy teacher.

The top photograph is Bath where I learned the reality of ley lines. The second is Oxford which taught me the emotional power of architecture.
