These days the state takes it upon itself to decide who is wise and who is not. They have done this by deciding for us which certificates are valid and which are not.
Fortunately this is a leaky monopoly on knowledge.
A gentleman or a lady seeks knowledge for the joy of it and to further his mission in life. He does not put others down with what he knows. Why should he? He has nothing to prove.
The only true scholarship is the learning of a free man. Truth must be pursued for its own sake and not to please authority.
